National Preparedness Month Giveaway

Are you Prepared?

We use National Preparedness Month to try to help everyone get a step ahead of the game, but we use the whole year to continue our efforts in sharing our education to help you learn and think out of the box.

If you don’t feel very prepared, the best place to start is getting yourself prepared for a 3 to 7 day power outage.  Make a list of the things that you would need to get you by for that time frame and then start to expand.  Consider food, water, shelter if necessary, lighting, medications, alternative power, heat, etc.

When it comes to preparing for the unexpected, this should really be a family affair!  Discuss these things with your family and having good communications with your family and a well thought out plan is extremely important.  Here is information from Ready.gov on family communications.

Something else to always considered are those with special needs, the elderly and your pets.  My son has a special diet and that is something we always think about and prepare for.  Do you have a special diet that you need to contend with?  If so, have you given thought to how you would handle this in an unexpected situation?  You may find my post helpful titled Why Natural Health, Exercise and Whole Foods Play A Role In Survival.  For those of you with pets, Ready.gov has some information that may be helpful in caring for your animals.

Preparedness is for everyone and this video is very helpful with the captioning and sign language.

Our site focuses on preparedness as more of a lifestyle versus something you temporarily prepare for, therefore, I encourage you to signup for our weekly newsletter where we share our knowledge, encouragement and inspiration on a regular basis.  We feel very led to help others and also feel that now more than ever it is important for everyone to clearly be prepared!
