I Just received my multi flame tool from the Trayer wilderness folks. Let me start off by saying that I am not much of a fan of fire piston type devices but with that being said I am very impressed with the quality of this fire piston. Glen’s attention to detail speaks volumes about the craftsmanship and fit of the piston into the ram. Now for the important stuff… I took this right out of the package that had been sitting in the mailbox since about noon time (3hrs) and the temp was about 20*F. I lubricated the “O” ring and put a small piece of char cloth into the piston and pushed it down…… Instantly lit, first time, right out of the package. Now I am really impressed. My second attempt i brought it into the house and let it warm up slightly. Condensation had begun to form on the piston and the barrel. I put another piece of char cloth into the piston end and pushed down. It too lit instantly. Did I say I was impressed? Really? Wow This is a fine piece of equipment to add to ones gear. It is all steel construction and a machined fit. Nicely made and comes in a carrying case with a tin to make char cloth and 2 extra “O” rings. It has an attachment that you can put an auger bit into as well as several different screw driver/socket insert bits. An amazing tool for your gear to make life easier in the bush. Thanks Glen for such a great product.

[…] We forage from the wild currently so eating will not be problem for our family and we will discuss that more in my post titled How To Utilize Bushcraft Skills and Forage From The Wild, But since I cannot randomly find a tomato plant in the wild I thought I would pack some seeds with me.  The benefit of heirloom seeds in a survival situation is that if your short term situation becomes a long term situation you have seeds that will provide you food for your family and you can save the seeds from your harvest and have new seeds to plant again next season.  It is an item that will keep on giving and keep on providing and they will be things that you would not be able to find readily in your surroundings.  In addition, they do not take up much room in your packs and they will provide additional nutrition for your family.  Something else I added to my pack since this video is my Mountain Man’s invention and multi-purpose fire piston called the MultiFlame Tool or MultiFlame Mini Tool.
