Podcast #123: Interview with Maat Van Uitert of The Frugal Chicken

Mountain Woman Radio Podcast 123 Maat Van Uitert The Frugal ChickenDecember 9th, 2015: In today’s show I had the privilege to chat with Maat Van Uitert of The Frugal Chicken.  She has some amazing information to share on her lifestyle and homestead.  She has great knowledge on the importance of paying attention to what we are feeding our chickens.  This applies to all our animals.  By feeding our chickens a non-gmo feed, our chickens will not only be healthier, but so will we.  The gmo’s travel through our animals and into the bi-products of eggs, meat, milk, etc dependent on the animl.  Maat has a wonderful class called Feeding Your Hens Right which is focusing on how we can best feed our animals.  I know you will enjoy the show.

  1. I think you are so right. Our ancestors are a part of us, we just have to uncover what they knew. I remember my great-grandfather had a huge garden. Eating peas and carrots from it is a fond memory. It wasn’t until you mentioned that during this podcast that it dawned on me that I probably learned the love of gardening from him. And interestingly, he wasn’t related by blood, rather by marriage so I can’t say it was hereditary.
