Liebster Award

I found out a while back and I have been SO busy that I have not been able to address this or highlight this, but I am so honored to announce that a fellow blogger, Jess of 104 Homestead , has nominated me for the Liebster Award.  I am awed that she felt my writings were worthy of such an award!

So what is a Liebster Award?

Liebster is a German word that can mean many things, but most commonly refers to someone being the sweetest, kindest, most pleasant, loveliest, most welcoming, etc. person they know.  This award is meant to help share their blog and reach more followers.

So how does it work?  Basically the award winner needs to:

  • Acknowledge the blogger who nominated them and proudly display the award on their site.
  • Answer the 11 questions the nominating blogger provides.
  • Share 11 random facts about yourself that others might be interested in knowing.
  • Nominate 11 other bloggers that you think are deserving of the award.
  • Let said bloggers know you’ve nominated them.
  • Give the nominated bloggers 11 questions to answer.

As you can see, it’s sort of a chain letter type deal.  I typically do not get involved in such things, but being that I am of German decent and because Jessica felt I was worthy, I will adhere to the rules! ♥

My 11 Questions:

Why did you start your blog?  Well – funny story!  We packed up everything and moved 2,500 miles to land that we purchased site unseen, land that was overgrown wilderness land untouched for a long time with no utilities and way back in the wild.  Our blog was started to keep in touch with our families and let them know that we indeed were still alive and well! 🙂

What is your favorite book?  I LOVE books, but I think I have to say that the book that has had the most impact on me, helping me to realize where my heart was and where my roots were is These is my Words: The Diary of Sarah Agnes Prine, 1881-1901 (P.S.).

What is your most prized possession? My family!  My husband and son are what I live for!

What is your favorite quote?  …with God all things are possible.  Matthew 19:26

What is your favorite post you’ve written (provide link)? The post about my family which can be found here!

What is your favorite post someone else has written?  Tough one, but this particular one really touched me, Simplifying Simplified by Marla Williard of SustainableChoices.us.

Is there a story behind your blog’s name?  Yes, Trayer Wilderness is about my family in the wilderness – we live in the northern Idaho wilderness 100% off-grid with solar power and LOVE it!  We all had separate hobby blogs that we started with MountainManJournals, MountainWomanJournals, MountainBoyJournals and RockingGTDesigns as well as our initial website GivenAGift.  In January 2014, we merged everything to TrayerWilderness.com except for the MountainBoyJournals.com because our son is nearly 18 and that way he could easily branch off with his elk hide moccasins and his own business when the timing is right for him!  It only seemed fitting to put everything under TrayerWilderness.com because we live in the wilds and we are a wild bunch! 🙂

What are three things you couldn’t live without?  Hummmm…  Immediately I can say I could not live without my Mountain Man or my Mountain Boy, but the 3rd thing…  hummm  I am very blessed, live simply and do not rely on material things so with that being said I know I could not live without God.

If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?  Well, I would LOVE to live in Alaska, Wyoming or Montana and it would have to be much deeper into the wild than we are right now….    I could never go back the other way – back into civilization… 🙂  The reason for this is because of the peace and gratification that comes along with a lifestyle like ours!  You find that the simpler you live the nicer life is… ♥

What is your favorite fruit/veggie?  YES… All of the above..  Ha…  I really can't think of any fruit nor vegetable that I don't like and I guess if I had to choose I would say zucchini is my favorite vegetable and my favorite fruit would be a good tasty apple and the tart elderberries.

Do you prefer beaches or mountains?  Well that would depend…  I do like the beach, but it would have to be a secluded beach with no people…  Not that we do not enjoy people, but we enjoy our peace and have really come to enjoy that more and more…  The more we are back in the more we enjoy the peace…  BUT I would only want to visit the beach…  I would much rather be DEEP in the mountains…

11 Random Facts About Me:

Hummmm…  11 random facts…  Now I really have to think about this….

I am the forever optimist…

I LOVE Life and I LOVE Simplicity…

I enjoy relaxing in the wilderness – just taking in my surroundings and finding peace…

I enjoy sitting by the wood stove with a good book…

I enjoy sitting under the stars – there are no lights out here so the stars look as though you can just touch them…

I never fully judge a person on the first encounter…  I feel that everyone is nervous on the 1st encounter and that their true colors will shine through, but I'd hate to disregard a good person due to nervousness…

I LOVE sitting in the hot sun and taking in lots of vitamin D.

I LOVE hard manual labor – it is the best kind of fitness around and it is not only good for the body, but good for the mind and soul too!

Living in our tent out here for 8 1/2 months was the BEST time in my life and I would do it again in a heartbeat!

I NEVER miss an opportunity to do something new and I will NEVER miss an opportunity to learn something…

I only get one chance on this earth so I choose to embrace life with a smile and laughter and to disregard negativity!

The best thing in the world to me is spending time with God in an incredibly remote location and doing the same with my family!

I LIVE and BREATH the outdoors…  I need an IV!!

I am always looking for the next door to swing open for the next adventure and I hope to be climbing mountains well into my 70's and 80's…
